Guests often tell us that the location of our cottages, and the peace and quiet of our setting, is one of the favourite parts of their stay. Read more about what they have to say.

The cottages are well located to explore both the Forest of Bowland and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Malhamdale, Wharfedale and Ribblesdale are the closest dales to Bank Newton and the trails of Gisburn Forest are half an hour away – well worth discovering for those who enjoy mountain biking or woodland walking.

Footpaths and bridleways offer guests wonderful walking and cycling opportunities from the doorstep. Discover the wildlife-rich corridor of the canal and see the birdlife along it. Walk the Pennine Way over the hill to Gargrave and in to Malhamdale. Cycle along the Pennine Cycleway and Yorkshire Dales Cycleway to discover quiet country lanes and stunning views. Read our recommendations for local walks, which provide plentiful opportunities to combine fresh air and exercise in beautiful countryside.

The location is perfect for so many amazing places and it's been great to be able to go on lovely walks straight from the apartment.

The location could not have been better. Such a beautiful canal and lovely walks and child-friendly cycle rides from the door. Enjoyed by all three generations.

We love the cottage, the surroundings, the amazing view from Banks Hill, the canal and there's so much to do in the Dales.

This was our first visit to the Dales. I find it hard to believe we have missed such a stunning place.

What a great spot Bank Newton is for getting to the best bits of Yorkshire.

The location is central to many places to visit – ideal for visiting local sites of interest and walking and cycling.

We are delighted to be able to offer a number of experiences to guests staying on site, by prior arrangement.

In addition, we recommend looking through the calendar of local events which offer lots of different experiences for visitors to enjoy. Please also read our blog, which includes insider tips on places to visit and things to experience during your stay in Yorkshire.

Lambing time on the farm

Visit in March and April when lambing time is in full swing to see newborn lambs skip along as they are turned out to the fields.

Every year we offer work experience to Veterinary Students who provide invaluable additional resource to support our farm staff at this busy time of the year.

Pamper treatments

For more than a decade we have worked with local beauty therapist Val Preston to bring pamper treatments to guests staying in our cottages.

A wonderful way to relax after a day in the outdoors, treatments range from holistic massages to facials and can be booked in advance.

Bespoke Tai Chi classes

If you're looking for something different for your group stay in Yorkshire, we highly recommend Val's group Tai Chi classes.

We are lucky to work with Sarah, an experienced cycling guide who lives just down the road.

Whatever your experience of cycling, Sarah offers group rides of up to 6 cyclists and they usually include a café stop. This experience can be booked in advance, subject to availability.
