Newton has a well-equipped kitchen, double bed dressed with Egyptian cotton bed linen and a shower room. The layout of the cottage is open-plan, and it is entirely on the ground floor making it one of our more accessible cottages for guests requiring self-catering accommodation all on one level.
The cottage is built from traditional Yorkshire stone and sits amidst the converted farm buildings on our working sheep farm in Bank Newton, near Gargrave.
There is a patio immediately outside the cottage with two comfortable wooden chairs with cushions. Beyond, guests are welcome to use the picnic area adjacent to our car park and walk through the farmland to the towpath of the Leeds Liverpool Canal and to join the Pennine Way footpath between East Marton, Bank Newton and Gargrave.

No – unfortunately Newton does not take pets.
We do have one dog-friendly cottage, which is called the Hermitage. It can accommodate up to 2 guests and up to 2 dogs.
At the moment we do not have provision on site to charge your electric vehicle.
Our nearest EV charging point can be found in North Street car park in Gargrave village, 2 miles away from our holiday cottages in Bank Newton.
There are also a number of EV charging points locally in the town of Skipton, which are located in Bridge Street car park and the High Street car park, as well as in Tesco Supermarket car park.
The closest grocery provisions to the cottage can be found in the village of Gargrave, 2 miles from the cottages. There is a well-stocked Co-operative on the High Street, with extended opening hours 7 days a week. There is also a Butchers Shop in the village.
Skipton is 6 miles away and has a Tesco, Morrisons and Aldi supermarket. There is also an Aldi in Barnoldswick, just under 7 miles away.
Farm shops can be found in Skipton (Robertshaw's Farm Shop) and Airton (Town End Farm Shop).
You are more than welcome to order a grocery delivery to your cottage. Most of the major supermarkets and providers have delivered to our cottages before. We simply ask that you arrange for the delivery to arrive after you do. Please also specify the name of the cottage you are staying in, on the delivery notes.
There is a laundry room which all guests are welcome to use. It is located in a separate building called the ‘Wash House'. There are three washing machines, a tumble dryer, internal drying line, washing baskets and a peg basket. Outside there is a whirligig washing line, located next to the rear patio to the cottages, which guests are welcome to use. The cottages are all equipped internally with an airing rack aswell.
Use of the laundry facilities is complimentary and included within the price of the cottage. This does not include a supply of washing powder or tablets; guests are asked to bring their own according to their own personal preference and to suit any allergy requirements.
Our usual changeover days are Friday and Monday. We generally offer weekend stays from Friday until Monday, mid-week short breaks Monday-Friday, and weekly stays beginning on Fridays. We are also sometimes able to offer weekly cottage stays beginning on a Saturday.
We are sometimes asked by guests if they can stay for one night. The answer is – yes, absolutely – but the price will be based on our minimum price for a stay in the cottage, which is based on a 2 - 3 night stay. Given this, we would recommend booking in for the 2 nights (as the cost will the same as for 1 night), and then you will benefit either from early check-in on the arrival day or late check-out on the departure day, if you wish.
Online availability to our cottages can be found here. Please contact us if you would like a bespoke quotation for a stay of a different length to our standard offer.
The cottages are available from 4pm on the arrival day.
Guests are very welcome to contact us on the day before their arrival day to find out whether earlier check-in times can be accommodated or not.
On the day of departure guests are requested to vacate the cottages promptly by 10am.
Newton has 1 ground floor double bedroom and can sleep up to 2 people, and 1 infant in a travel cot.
The whole cottage is entirely on the ground floor.
Guests are not permitted to exceed the maximum occupancy numbers per cottage or bring additional mattresses or blow-up beds to accommodate additional people.
We enjoyed the peace and quiet and lovely walks. The maps provided were brilliant. Enjoyed having lunch on the patio and watching the sheep. It is the best resourced holiday cottage we've ever stayed in.
We enjoyed our stay in Newton Cottage once again, despite increasing mobility problems. The open plan layout of the cottage suited our requirements very well. The friendly welcome was much appreciated. The weather was excellent on the whole so we managed to have a few nice trips out. What a great spot Bank Newton is for getting to the best bits of Yorkshire.
Thank you for such a tidy, clean, relaxing place to stay.
Whether you're planning a family trip, a walking weekend in Yorkshire with friends, or just a quiet escape, we have the perfect accommodation for you.

Also a one bedroom cottage, the Hermitage is our rustic dog-friendly cottage with heaps of character. Like Newton, Turnbers can be enjoyed entirely on the ground floor with a twin bedroom, shower room, living room and kitchen all on one level. With the addition of an ensuite king size double bedroom to the first floor, Turnbers gives couples more space and flexibility and the benefit of dining outdoors on its south-facing patio.
