The Hermitage is a one-bedroom, dog-friendly cottage for two near Skipton. Rustic and characterful with wooden floors throughout, this cottage is as spacious as it is quirky.
The Hermitage is full of character with exposed beams and a mezzanine king size double bedroom accessed via an open wooden staircase. On the ground floor, the cottage has a spacious living room with comfortable sofas and a dining table large enough to accommodate your friends staying in other cottages too.
The kitchen has mullion windows affording a gorgeous view over the converted stone buildings, and is really well-equipped for guests who love to cook on holiday.
The shower room and WC is located on the ground floor and accessed through the kitchen. Being some way from the bedroom, this cottage is only recommended for guests who don't mind these facilities being on a different floor.
Outside the cottage, the Hermitage has its own patio with a table and comfortable chairs with cushions. Parking for the Hermitage is provided immediately adjacent to the cottage, or if guests prefer – in our main visitor car park.
This cosy, dog-friendly cottage is perfect for couples, solo travellers or guests travelling on business to Skipton and the Dales and needing self-catering accommodation. It is a brilliant addition to group bookings where some dog-friendly accommodation is required.

Yes - you are welcome to bring up to 2 dogs if staying in the Hermitage, but they should never be left unattended in the cottage.
Guests are asked to clean up immediately after their dog and to keep their animals under close control during their stay. Dogs should be kept on a lead whilst walking through the surrounding farmland.
The Hermitage is our only dog-friendly cottage at Newton Grange Farm. All our other holiday cottages are pet-free.
At the moment we do not have provision on site to charge your electric vehicle.
Our nearest EV charging point can be found in North Street car park in Gargrave village, 2 miles away from our holiday cottages in Bank Newton.
There are also a number of EV charging points locally in the town of Skipton, which are located in Bridge Street car park and the High Street car park, as well as in Tesco Supermarket car park.
The closest grocery provisions to the cottage can be found in the village of Gargrave, 2 miles from the cottages. There is a well-stocked Co-operative on the High Street, with extended opening hours 7 days a week. There is also a Butchers Shop in the village.
Skipton is 6 miles away and has a Tesco, Morrisons and Aldi supermarket. There is also an Aldi in Barnoldswick, just under 7 miles away.
Farm shops can be found in Skipton (Robertshaw's Farm Shop) and Airton (Town End Farm Shop).
You are more than welcome to order a grocery delivery to your cottage. Most of the major supermarkets and providers have delivered to our cottages before. We simply ask that you arrange for the delivery to arrive after you do. Please also specify the name of the cottage you are staying in, on the delivery notes.
There is a laundry room which all guests are welcome to use. It is located in a separate building called the ‘Wash House'. There are three washing machines, a tumble dryer, internal drying line, washing baskets and a peg basket. Outside there is a whirligig washing line, located next to the rear patio to the cottages, which guests are welcome to use. The cottages are all equipped internally with an airing rack aswell.
Use of the laundry facilities is complimentary and included within the price of the cottage. This does not include a supply of washing powder or tablets; guests are asked to bring their own according to their own personal preference and to suit any allergy requirements.
Our usual changeover days are Friday and Monday. We generally offer weekend stays from Friday until Monday, mid-week short breaks Monday-Friday, and weekly stays beginning on Fridays. We are also sometimes able to offer weekly cottage stays beginning on a Saturday.
We are sometimes asked by guests if they can stay for one night. The answer is – yes, absolutely – but the price will be based on our minimum price for a stay in the cottage, which is based on a 2 - 3 night stay. Given this, we would recommend booking in for the 2 nights (as the cost will the same as for 1 night), and then you will benefit either from early check-in on the arrival day or late check-out on the departure day, if you wish.
Online availability to our cottages can be found here. Please contact us if you would like a bespoke quotation for a stay of a different length to our standard offer.
The cottages are available from 4pm on the arrival day.
Guests are very welcome to contact us on the day before their arrival day to find out whether earlier check-in times can be accommodated or not.
On the day of departure guests are requested to vacate the cottages promptly by 10am.
The Hermitage has 1 king size double bedroom and can sleep up to 2 people.
The bedroom in the Hermitage is situated on a mezzanine floor, accessed via a wooden staircase.
This cottage is not suitable for any guests with mobility difficulties, or for couples travelling with an infant. If visiting with an infant we would recommend any of our other five holiday cottages. If ground floor accessibility is important to you, we would recommend looking at Mickleber or Newton cottages. In addition, Turnbers has one ground floor bedroom and shower room.
Guests are not permitted to exceed the maximum occupancy numbers per cottage or bring additional mattresses or blow-up beds to accommodate additional people.

Newton, located just across the lane from the Hermitage, offers one-bedroom self-catering accommodation on the ground floor for easy access. Not dog-friendly, it has a more compact layout than the Hermitage. It is an excellent choice for couples and solo travellers looking for a good value holiday cottage near Skipton.
Like the Hermitage, Turnbers also has a king size double bedroom on the first floor. However, this cottage also has the benefit of an ensuite shower to its master bedroom. Turnbers has a second bedroom and shower room on the ground floor and benefits from a south-facing patio and living room. It is not dog-friendly.
