All Aboard the First Class Breakfast Train
Our beautiful cottages are only a fifteen minute drive from Bolton Abbey Station which is home to the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Railway. The steam railway here is a place my Grandad often took me to at weekends when I was little and still holds a special place in my heart.
So it’s great hear that the steam railway will be running its First Class Breakfast Trains from the beginning of February.
Imagine starting your morning in a First Class carriage with a glass of fresh orange juice followed by filter coffee or Yorkshire Tea. Then dining on a bacon, sausages, hash browns, black pudding, beans, mushrooms, tomatoes and scrambled egg (Vegetarian option available) as you travel through the rolling hills of the Yorkshire countryside. Each carriage has embroidered table clothes, and relaxing head rests, plus refills of tea and coffee are served on your return journey.
After breakfast, and leaving the train, why not make a day of it and follow the well signed Railway Walk to Bolton Priory?
The gentle one and a half marked trail takes you to the Priory perched on the banks of the River Wharfe. It’s a family-friendly walk so perfect for little explorers. The walk can also be extended further with a myriad of trails including the Dales Way.
The First Class Breakfast Train experience lasts an hour and can be booked at either 10am or 11.30 on Saturdays, and Sundays in February, and all week during the half-term holidays. Whilst in March the experience will be running on Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. At £25 per person (£20 per child) including your return journey, and full breakfast, we think it’s great value for money and fun for all the family.
